I'm a student studying Medical Physics at university. The most interesting part of my course is that my third year project is to design a virtual environment to treat a condition called visual vertigo, where patients have balance issues. There are already plans to continue this line of work in my fourth year.
The condition is treated by designing the virtual environment to meet specific requirements, and also involves research into VR technologies and how best they can be used in a medical environment.
I do this in a clinical setting and plan to continue down this path in the future.
I have another project where I am interfacing sensors with a Raspberry Pi to create a medical device which records various things about the body - temperature, pulse, CO2, a few other things.
